Where Azkaban was endless misery, this place is endless monotony. Narcissa sent him books; he read the entirety of The Origins of the Dark Arts three times. The despair here is not magically induced, not the worry of a constant state of mortal precariousness. Instead it is a pressure at the back of his mind that he fights all day until he lays in bed at night with his body aching in the darkness and lets the fear consume him.
The endless boredom breaks when a face he knows is dragged past his cell and put into the one across from him. He can see the haggard face across the tiny, narrow hallway. Narcissa keeps him up to date on the current news - he's not sure why, considering the circumstances - but he hasn't heard anything about this. "Leontius?"
